Established July 30, 1928

Only six years after the establishment of AHEPA Des Moines was home to Chapter #192. Still a young chapter, it made its presence known and the National Convention in 1929.

With visits from Supreme Presidents and District Governors Chapter 192 was a hotbed of activity through its first years

Gave Out An Award or Two...

You may recognize this name. Alex Karras, whose family is originally from the island of Chios, played for the University of Iowa and was drafted #10 overall in the 1958 Draft by the Detroit Lions. He played there is whole career from '58 to '70 playing in over 160 games.

Prior to all that though the Des Moines AHEPA Chapter 192 awarded with an Athletic Achievement award in 1956.

Staying True to Its Mission

AHEPA 192 stayed true to the mission of helping Greeks assimilate into American life and to spread the love of Hellenism among citizens and leaders alike. We have had many members throughout the years, many pillars of the community including Iowa Governors and Local Mayors.
